MORB was developed specifically to identify, understand and manage “resistive” or “noncompliant” behavior prior to it escalating to aggressive or assaultive. As a result all efforts have been employed to ensure the material is compliant, consistent and current with applicable legal authorities and acceptable standards.

Effective Communications explores the structure of everyday communications from not only verbal components but physiological components. Successful candidates will be able to understand the goals of communication and enhance their ability to be an active listener and say the right thing to prevent miscommunication or conflict.

The Ontario Police Public Interaction Training Aid which was released by the Ministry of the Solicitor General in 2023, is a replacement to the previous version of the Resistance Management Guide/Use of Force Model. This next generation program will provide learners with the understanding to be able to effectively incorporate this into their daily decision making processes.

This in class and hands on program teaches the skills to recognize subject danger cues and establish appropriate positional safety. Hands on learning will focus on tactical communication and positioning and defense against the six most common knife attack angles. Learners will establish control of a subject using the least force amount force to gain subject control.

This program is an in class and hands on program where participants will be educated on the legal authority of making an arrest and the components of enacting a lawful arrest of a subject from first contact to application of mechanical restraints and transfer of custody to police.

Participants will engage in hands on and classroom activities which will prepare those who are or will be in a position to carry and potentially deploy an intermediate weapon - baton in the course of their duties. Participants will be trained on open and closed baton skills and be tested on their effectiveness in its use.
