The Security Development Course is a two part program designed to amplify the skills of the security guard so they can achieve their highest potential in the industry. The course focuses on developing communication skills, improving team and solo situational control and many other skills the guard will need when deployed to various types of security work in the industry.
Communication and de-escalation skills will be the focus of this three day program. Guards will learn legal authorities and the components of communication and how to apply this knowledge to improve their current abilities. Next they will work on de-escalation strategies and effectively utilize their improved communication to talk to a person in crisis. Finally they will learn to strategically control their environment when engaged in their duties working alone or in a team.
This course will effectively train the guard in advanced communication strategies and increased environmental awareness and physical control options. These skills will be critical for guards working in high risk security positions that may see them engaging physically with persons while enforcing TPA, LLA or citizens' arrest authority.
Physical control techniques are taught to strengthen the guards ability to maintain control of a subject with low to medium levels of resistance. The primary focus of the training is working basic and simple techniques for control while teaching the principles of the guards legal duty of care responsibility as well as disengagement options.
Expanding on the skills taught in the Basics Defensive Tactics course, this program seeks to increase the level of resistance from medium to high resistance and teach more advanced skill to manage a person exhibiting this level of resistance. Participants will experience working at high intensity levels and be able to better recognize and improve upon their own abilities and limitations.
